Beach Bistro - 6600 Gulf Drive - Holmes Beach. The Bistro boasts the highest Zagat rating for food and service in the state of Florida. It is included in Zagat’s “Top Restaurants in America” and is lauded by the guide for “the best food on the Gulf Coast.” Opened in 1985, it serves real fresh grouper, Prime American beef, domestic lamb and "the best Smoked Salmon in the free world”. D.Coy Ducks - 5410 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach. D.Coy Ducks is the place for live music on Holmes Beach. They also have table games and Texas Hold-em tournaments every week. And did I mention WiFi? Map

Feeling Swell Surf Bar and Grill - 9903 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria. Paddle board and surfboard rentals and sales. A cool surfing/beach bar with an outdoor patio and live entertainment most evenings. Cold brew, boiled peanuts, live music... need we say more. Map

Ginny & Jane E’s Cafe - 9807 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria. Their slogan... "A sublime escape from the ordinary." They have a cafe and bakery with fresh baked bread and pastries, gourmet groceries, vintage furnishings all under one roof. They also have computers and wireless access. Frittatas, Quiche, Brioche, Crème Brulee French, Muffins, Scones, and Bagels.... ummm, yummy. A fun gathering spot just off the beach. Map

Holmes Beach - City of Holmes Beach, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach. This little beach community sits in the central section of Anna Maria Island and is the largest of the three island communities, with three miles of white sand beaches. Map

Katie Pierola Sunset Park - 2200 block of Gulf Drive, Bradenton Beach. This Gulf side park features authentic chickee huts. Chickee, the Seminole Indian word for “house,” is a shelter supported by posts, with a raised floor, a thatched roof and open sides. Sandbar Restaurant. 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria, 778-0444. One of the most popular dining spots on the island, Sandbar has tables set right in the sand. A great location to spot the green flash at sunset. Great view, fresh fish and home-made conch fritters. The little ones can build sandcastles on the beach right in front of you. Map

Rod & Reel Pier Restaurant. 875 N. Shore Drive, Anna Maria, 788-1885. A fishing pier, bait shop, bar, restaurant, all built at the end of a pier overlooking the azure blue waters of Tampa Bay. This Anna Maria pier is a nice spot to pick up a mahi mahi plate and lie about that fish. A grouper sandwich and a cold Corona... hmmmm. Map - Local weather conditions.

West Coast Surf Shop 3902 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, 778-1001, The “oldest surf shop in Florida,” the West Coast Surf Shop opened in 1963 and has everything a wave or street surfer could want.
